The Pillar Awards were created to acknowledge and celebrate those who help uplift the African-American community in Spokane. The night was created to provide a night of entertainment, fellowship, and celebration! As an event founded under the Inland Northwest Juneteenth Coalition, it is held as a part of the Juneteenth Celebration each year.
INDIVIDUAL | NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
BUSINESS | CHURCH/RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION
We also present a Heartwood Award to an elder of the African American community who has been a meaningful part of the community's foundation and identity.
Heartwood: The central supporting pillar of the tree. It will not decay or lose strength while the outer layers are intact. It is in many ways the strongest part of the tree.
Nominate a deserving Non-Profit, Business, Individual, Church/Religious Organization, and Heartwood who have impacted, helped, and influenced the black community in Spokane.
